Office of Achievement and Accountability

The Office of Accountability encompasses the Division of Research, Evaluation, Assessment and Accountability and the Division of School Evaluation and Accountability.
The Division of Research, Evaluation, Assessment and Accountability (DREAA) oversees institutional and external research, program evaluation, and student assessment.
Institutional research informs decisions by the CEO and Board and guides teaching and learning for students, classrooms, schools, and networks. External research supports major system partnerships, helps staff pursuing advanced degrees, and facilitates the study of important issues.
Program Evaluation addresses significant City Schools initiatives, enterprise innovations, and restricted grants requiring evaluation components.
Student Assessment administers and reports results for the testing program required by No Child Left Behind. Student Assessment also oversees City Schools’ large-scale participation in the National Assessment of Educational Progress as a Trial Urban District Assessment, one of only 18 such districts in the US.
DREAA develops enrollment projections which are the foundation for the annual Fair Student Funding and for facilities planning.
The department of School Evaluation and Accountability is a new organization that developments and administers the School Accountability Framework, a transparent and objective approach which assesses school progress against a cohort of similar schools and against City Schools as a whole. School Evaluation and Accountability is also the direct partner with the Networks, providing a direct role in professional development and direct support to schools.
